REM 11/21/05

Well today my brother dad and I headed up to Glen Helen for REM. The track was tons of fun and I felt really good on my YZinger. I didn't race like it but I still finished pretty solid in the 6th position after two miserable starts. My brother did really well in his new Socal gear onboard his new YZ250. You could say the same about my dad except take out the new before "Socal gear" and add a F to the end of YZ250! Next week my brother and I are heading out to Whit's race which we had a great time at last year.

New Website

Sorry about the fact that the last time I updated my diary was a few months ago. I have been a very busy boy! I started football at school just after Baja Bound in June and just finished last Saturday. Everyday since June I have been occupied from 3:00pm-6:00pm on weekdays practicing football. It was a lot of hard work and totally sucked out all of my time for motocross and spit it in the trash, but it was worth it. We ended the season as league champions with a playoff record of 3-0 but an overall record of 5-4. Other than football I haven't been up to too much. I made it out to the Octobercross REM without my camera and had a great time racing. It was my first time racing an REM (even though I have been going to them about once a month taking pictures) since I wrapped up my Fall Series 85 beg Championship, aaah those were the days. It was nice racing REM again but man was I rusty with the starts. I am going to save my reputation and just not tell you what I did. Any ways after Octobercross we have been going to Piru Practice on Sundays. On Saturdays to pass the time I built some BMX jumps in my yard as well as an ST90 track, yea that's right an ST90! My dad drove by some guy selling two of them and slammed on the brakes and bought them both. The funny thing about it was just the night before we all had a big talk about simplifying our lives and not buying so much junk, but hey my dad always wanted one as a child and I guess he had to fulfill his dream! I am okay with it because they are so quiet the neighbors don't complain and it is a fun way to pass the time! These past few days I have completely cleaned out the garage and reorganized it so it is actually functional. I also created a new website that I think is 100x cooler than the last one. It took me some good time to make so I hope you enjoy it. Hopefully with this new set up I can update the Diary section a little bit more frequently but I am not making any promises!

Baja Bound

My brother, dad, and I made our second trip to Baja in the past month.  This time was different though there was no pressure of a race for my brother and all of us were riding.  We went on a four day adventure through Baja under the lead of Tim Morton of bajaboundmoto.com.   Tim knows trails through Baja like a fast typer knows his/her keyboard.  The first night we stayed at the Santa Veronica were they host my favorite race, the Tecate Hare-Scrambles.   We rode through pine forests to tight single tracks the next day to arrive at Mikes Sky Ranch to stay the night.  We woke up and then traveled down the coast after making a harder-than-it-looked water crossing and then traveled to the Pirates Cove Hotel were we ate a quick snack and then headed back out for some crazy single tracks and then went back to the Pirates Cove for the night.  The next day we traveled on a lot of the Baja 500 course which was a lot of fun.  All my dad and I saw of the course before-hand was about 3 miles of the course.  We rode a very large portion of the course and it was very interesting to see what my brother went through. The respect that my Dad and I have for what my brother did has increased a bunch.  We arrived at the Horsepower Ranch that night and stayed the night.  Next to HPR they is an awesome Motocross Track which I wanted to ride but didn’t since the bike I was riding, a TT-R 250, wouldn’t handle very well over the jumps.  The next day we rode with Tim Morton’s wife Jennifer and her friend Heather Lewis to the finish were we loaded up our belly’s at Da Boyz Italian Restaurant.  We arrived home at around 11 to conclude our trip.

Baja 500

We arrived in Ensenada, the hosting town of the Baja 500,  Friday afternoon.  My dad unloaded my brother’s bike, my mom made sandwiches and I went around taking pictures.  It was pretty crazy down there with load music and thousands of people.  After confirming our sign up and getting past tech inspection, we went up to dinner and then went to bed.  We woke up at 5:30 after a terrible night of sleep because I slept on a stiff, sticky leather couch that when I would roll around it sounded like someone ripped a massive…....nevermind.  My brother was super nervous for his adventure, he was iron-manning the entire race in his first time ever racing a SCORE event. We watched him at the start and two other spots before the finish.  At the finish my mom, dad, and I were all waiting nervously for him to come into the baseball stadium (the finish line) He finally came in 1 hour overdue from our estimated time and we were thrilled to see him.  My brother talked to Cameron Steel who passed him in a truck near the finish, talk about a nice guy, when I introduced my self he was like my name’s Cameron as if I didn’t know already! Any ways we spent the night and I got shafted with the leather couch once again and then we headed home.  On the drive home we came within inches of getting in an accident when two cars crashed behind us and almost clipped us by a half-foot.  We were very lucky!

The Prequel

Today I went and shot photos at the Prequel at Glen Helen.  My brother gave me a ride out to the track,  as we were buying tickets we saw our buddy Bobby Garrison.   At the booth we went back to his motor home, talked  with him a little bit, then I went out to take pictures of 125 and 250 moto ones.  Bobby got a 3rd place start behind Reed and Ryno and held his ground in 4th place till a flat tire made him fade back to a 8th place finish, I was stoked for him!   I shot pictures of the 2nd motos and then we headed to Denny’s with the Garrisons and crew were I ate breakfast for dinner.  The ride home then concluded yet another day at Glen Helen.

REM 4/30/05

Today was a busy day!  In the morning I did some laps on the semi-muddy national track with my new YZ125.  The bike is has so much power and is so light!  It is the fastest bike I have ever owned and every time I ride it my smile gets wider.  REM was very short today but my time at the track was just as long as any other day.  My dad left to pick up a brand new weekend warrior trailer as I took pictures today.  When racing was over he was still trapped at the Giant RV store and I was trapped alone at the track with my camera and my YZ125 chained to a tree.  Finally at about 4:30pm he pulled up with the new trailer and we loaded up the bike and headed home.  We tried to hide the trailer in the back of our driveway before my mom got home.  We didn’t hide it in time but luckily she didn’t get mad!  The trailer is so cool and I am so excited to camp in it at the next WORCS race.  By the way, I hope you guys like the new website!

REM 4/16/05

I just got back from an action packed day at REM. In the morning we arrived at the track and signed up. I rode my new bike in practice and it felt awesome! I was bummed I couldn't race because the track was a lot of fun today. I took pictures and woah were there a lot of crashes this week! The ESPN2 announcer Robbie Floyd always says ooh and he takes a faceogger! Well today I took a picture that defines the "faceogger!"

REM 4/2/05

Today was just another day at REM. The pro class was stacked today, tons of good racing! Today After racing was over on our way home we drove by Pasadena Yamaha to pick up a brand new 2005 YZ125 for me!!! The bike is so light and is awesome!!! I am so happy. I greased the headset and linkage and am ready to break it in at our little "casa" in Baja.
